The Center for Auto Safety, a non-profit organization, advocates for consumers in all aspects of the automobile industry. The organization’s mission is:
to improve the safety, efficiency, reliability and cost to the consumer of a vehicle. Beyond the consumer, our mission is to reduce motor vehicle deaths, injuries and crashes and the automobile’s impact on the environment.
CAS engages in many strategies to fulfill its mission, including reviewing state lemon laws, promoting information, and fighting for tougher vehicle safety and environmental laws. Their website has a section in which consumers can file complaints about their vehicle. In turn, the CAS uses the information as they lobby at state and federal levels.
I reviewed the complaints filed against recalled vehicles and have linked here to the complaints relating to airbag failure in accidents. As these are not reviewed or edited, they represent personal stories of GM drivers affected by the defective ignition switch.
