Wall Street Journal investigated the impact of the GM ignition switch recalls on dealers who service the vehicles. Although recalls began in April 2014, by August only 34% of recalled vehicles had been repaired. Sources in the article cited the lack of service technicians as well as difficulty amassing inventory of necessary parts. As a result, customers are waiting for repair appointments, and dealer service departments are forgoing higher-margin repairs.
